Wayne State Hiring Announcement

Wayne State University Law School aims to hire three tenure-track faculty members to begin in Fall 2025. For the first position, we seek entry-level or junior (untenured) lateral candidates working in any subject area. For the second position, we seek entry-level or junior (untenured) lateral candidates working in race and the law generally and Black studies and the Black experience in particular. The third position is a joint appointment with the Wayne State University School of Social Work. For that position, we seek entry-level, junior (untenured) lateral, or tenured lateral candidates working in criminal law and procedure, especially on questions related to criminal legal reform or holistic defense, and whose scholarly work would support an appointment in both the law and social work schools. For all positions, we are looking for outstanding scholars and teachers whose experiences and perspectives will enrich our community.

Wayne Law is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive faculty. We warmly welcome applications from people of color, people with disabilities, women, LGBTQ people, and others whose background, experience, and viewpoints will contribute to the diversity of the faculty. Candidates should send a cover letter, CV, and any other relevant materials to Professor Will Ortman, Faculty Appointments Committee chair, at lawappointments@wayne.edu. Candidates are invited (but not required) to share in their cover letter how their background, experience, and viewpoints will contribute to perspectives not ordinarily well-represented in law schools or the legal profession.
