Tennessee Waltz

"The Tennessee Waltz" was released in 1950 by Patti Page, charting at number one and remaining popular ever since.  There have been dozens, if not hundreds, of covers and millions of copies sold, in styles ranging from R&B to polka (see last clip below), and pretty much everything in between.

Patti Page

Bonnie Raitt and Nora Jones

Otis Redding (audio only)

Underhill Rose

Murakami Yuki (audio only)

International Quartet Championship (no kidding)

Daniel O'Donnell (at the Ryman Auditorium)

Same Cooke (audio only)

Leonard Cohen (with some new lyrics; music begins at 2:00)

Cowboy Copas. This version preceded Patti Page. The label gives songwriting credit to Copas, but Wikipedia lists only Stewart and King; and the label also misspells Tennessee, so draw your own conclusions. (audio only)

Polka version

    Way to curate, Steven.

The Tennessee Waltz is a song about the Tennessee Waltz. Where is the Tennessee waltz that this Tennessee waltz is about?
