Saturday Afternoon Trivia

PC160628Well, it's a dreary winter Saturday afternoon here in Chapel Hill, so that must mean it's time for some building trivia.  We'll start the new year with an easy one — much easier than Ye Olde Virginnie Inn.  Where is the building at right and why is it famous?

And, by the way, just to be explicit about this — if you have a monument or building trivia question, please send it along.  I'm always looking for good property-related trivia questions and I've run through much of my stock of photos.

I guess I'm not allowed to play this one.

Despite the sign, I believe this is the International Civil Rights Center and Museum in Greensboro, NC. The original Woolworth store at 132 South Elm was the site of the 1960 Greensboro lunch counter sit-ins.

Love these trivia posts! Keep them coming…

Very funny, Eric! I took the picture last December when I visited Eric in Greensboro.

Owen is, of course, correct — it's the Civil Rights Museum in Greensoboro, where the famous lunch counter sit-ins took place. I was thinking about this today as I was eating a burger at Sutton's lunch counter on Franklin Street.

It wasn't easy to get a picture of this that didn't have the Museum sign in it.
