If you thought a student was using a laptop for other than a class-related purpose, might you be tempted to take action?

At the beginning of classes I announce to my studnets that use of their laptop during class for anything other than taking of notes or consulting materials to which I refer constitutes grounds for dismissal from the class without academic credit. I tell them they will get no credit for the course and if they do not graduate on time as a result I will elave it to themto tell their parents why they are not graduating with their peers. This provokes a nervous laugh and after having done this for 5-6 years I have not caught a student making improper use of a laptop.
multi-purpose laptop… heheh..
guess tablet will be better.
