Kenneth Davis, who has served as the Dean of the University of Wisconsin School of Law since 1997, is stepping down in September 2011. He will return to the faculty. Law deanships aren't entirely a revolving door – notwithstanding the running myth – but a 14 year gig remains quite impressive. I wonder if there are a dozen law deans who have served as long.
Dan, I'll do my part and contribute one name to your list: Reese Hansen, law dean at BYU (1990-2004).
Bill Hines was Dean at Iowa for 28 years, ending in 2004.
You gave great points here. I did some research on the subject and have found nearly all people agree with your blog.
Ken Randall of Alabama, 1994-present.
