OK, so the title of the post is perhaps just a bit misleading. Maybe it should have read "Obama Nominates Alito's Replacement on the Third Circuit." But that phrasing was less likely to get the lefties salivating!
On Friday, President Obama nominated federal district judge Joseph A. Greenaway, Jr., to fill the vacancy created by Samuel Alito's elevation to the United States Supreme Court. The White House press releases are here and here.
Judge Greenaway's bio can be found in the second press release, as well as here. Additionally, he delivered the Weintraub Lecture at Rutgers-Newark in 1998. His remarks, entitled Judicial Decision Making and the External Environment, focus on the Japanese internment cases and are available here.
