It's that time of the semester when law professors start thinking about final exams. If you teach con law, criminal law, or immigration law, today's Houston Chronicle has a topic that may be worthy of an essay question.
The Harris County District Attorney's office is proposing to eliminate probation plea deals for illegal immigrants. Issue: "Can people who are in the country illegally, by letter of the law, comply with the terms of their probation?" Reporter Susan Carroll has the story here (which at the time of this posting had generated over 120 comments).
Try as I might, I can't find a UCC question in this. Oh well.
