Memphis Law Names Kevin Smith Dean

Smith The Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis has named Kevin Smith its new dean.  Smith, who was the acting dean last year, and the interim dean this year, has been at Memphis since 1993.  He took his JD and his PhD (in political science) from the University of Iowa (where, I might add, my dad got his doctorate – albeit during the Truman administration.)  Dean Smith's  cv is here.  Congrats to Memphis for successfully completing its search.

I see that we UCC experts are slowly making inroads to positions of world-changing power. Bravo!

Kevin wrote one of the most entertaining law review articles I've ever read (other than my own). Check out: "How to Become a Law Professor Without Really Trying: A Critical, Heuristic, Deconstructionist, and Hermeneutical Exploration of Avoiding the Drudgery Associated with Actually Working as an Attorney," 47 Kansas L. Rev. 139 (1998).

Congrats, Kevin, on your new role!
