Chris Guthrie, 42, was named the new dean of Vanderbilt Law today. He served as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs from 2004-08. Guthrie has agreed to a five year appointment and will replace Ed Rubin who has been at Vandy since 2005.
He is a graduate of Stanford University, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Stanford Law School. His scholarship has focused largely in the area of dispute resolution and behavioralism.
This is very good internal hire for Vanderbilt and I suspect that most people won't be suprised. (I previously wondered whether John C.P. Goldberg would return as dean. Not!)
