"The Motown Sound in Performance at the White House" was recorded on Feb. 24, 2011, and broadcast on PBS on March 1. Yes, it's pretty much impossible to imagine a similar concert today (or anything good coming out of the White House).
Here are some clips:
While Motown had many incredible musical talents, there wee three bona fide geniuses: Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.
Also, in retrospect, Martha and the Vandellas were superior to The Supremes, who became more and more confectionery as Diane's role grew.

Speaking of geniuses, let's not forget Holland-Dozier-Holland, who did much of the writing and most of the producing from 1962-67: https://www.thefacultylounge.org/2022/08/lamont-dozier-1941-2022.html

Yes - I meant pure music geniuses.
HDH were definitely songwriting geniuses.
Some of the Funk Brothers - James Jamerson, Earl Van Dyke, Benny Benjamin - were geniuses.
Cholly Atkins and Maxine Powell
And its pretty clear, whatever his faults, Berry Gordy was a business genius.

If you refuse to allow any response to your extreme statement ("it's pretty much impossible to imagine a similar concert today (or anything good coming out of the White House)") because, in your head, these responses have nothing to do with your post (you've censored two responses), then why post such a statement on this thread?
Are you so oblivious?
Or, do you really believe that you are beyond reproach?
For someone who has been, consistently, so reproachful and unemphatic toward the targets of your attacks, it seems you have a very sensitive nature when it comes to YOU.
