The Salmon P. Chase Center for Civics, Culture, and Society is conducting a nationwide search for its inaugural faculty. The Center seeks to fill several tenure-track faculty positions at the ranks of Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor, and Professor of Teaching, to start in the 2025–2026 academic year. Successful candidates will be, or demonstrate the potential to be, extraordinary scholars with research and teaching in disciplines relevant to civic thought and leadership. Chase faculty will publish research, teach, and make contributions to their academic discipline in a manner that serves the Center’s mission, and will be actively engaged in the Center’s and Ohio State’s intellectual life.
The Center’s founding faculty will be public-spirited scholars who are committed to building an academic community in which civic life and the life of the mind flourish. As the heart of the Center’s academic community, faculty will advance the Center’s mission by making meaningful contributions to their academic disciplines, teaching and mentoring students, modeling collegiality, and serving the University and the broader Ohio community. All members of the Center, should be familiar with and embrace the Center’s mission as defined by ORC § 3335.39.
