John O'Sullivan, editor of Democratic Review, coined manifest destiny: "in a spirit of hostile interference against us, for the avowed object of thwarting our policy and hampering our power, limiting our greatness and checking the fulfillment of our manifest destiny to overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly multiplying millions." (Volume 17, 1845).
I'm thinking about President Trump's inauguration. And I didn't think he was arguing about "manifest destiny." But that's going to be another post.
For sure. Inspiring America to lead the way to Mars and beyond is the same as before. This time, it is interplanetary racism against the Martians, who, as we all know, were named for Mars, the lord of war. They buried themselves under the streets of NY and elsewhere in order to eliminate humans, and we only escaped the existential threat when COVID killed them.
