Position Description Summary
The George Washington University Law School is pleased to announce the availability of a graduate fellowship beginning in Spring/Summer 2025 for a twelve-month appointment, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. The Fellow will have the title of Visiting Associate Professor of Law and Defense Industry Initiative (DII) Fellow. The “DII Fellow” will specialize in government procurement ethics and compliance issues at GW Law.

Fellows receive an annual salary of $75,000 and health insurance, and other benefits associated with a full-time position at GW. These benefits include GW’s Tuition Remission Benefit, which may provide an opportunity to complete coursework as a candidate in a GW graduate degree program.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The DII Fellow will conduct innovative research in government procurement integrity and compliance issues, develop ethics and compliance programming, and help support DII’s mission of promoting integrity in the defense industry.
The DII Fellow will help deepen the partnership between GW Law and DII by helping to update DII’s compliance toolkits, assisting with organizing webinars and other events, producing white papers and other written materials, and creating new opportunities for students to engage with DII and its members.
The DI Fellow also is encouraged to publish research and deliver presentations to professional conferences or programs, with funding provided through the Law School, as determined by the Associate Dean for Government Procurement Law.
The Fellow is expected to provide academic advising to students and supervise student independent research projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- A J.D. or LL.M. degree (or international equivalent);
- 0-5 years post-law school experience;
- strong academic writing, research, and organizational skills;
- anti-corruption, ethics and compliance experience, coursework, publications or comparable demonstration of commitment to these issues;
- demonstrated interest in government procurement law is a plus;
- interest in developing and advancing new DII initiatives;
- collaborative program and event management experience;
- strong communications skills;
- ability to work independently; and
- demonstrated experience in social media or web-based engagement.
