The University of St. Thomas School of Law Journal of Law and Public Policy invites submissions for its Spring 2025 Symposium on The Age of Trump: Projecting policy and Legal Impacts of a Second Term to be held on April 11, 2025, via a hybrid model over Zoom and at the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This interdisciplinary event aims to bring together scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to explore and analyze what a second presidential term for Donald Trump might mean for various areas of law and policy.
We invite proposals for papers and presentations that offer fresh perspectives and critical analysis related to the potential trajectory of U.S. legal and policy frameworks under a second Trump administration. Interdisciplinary approaches are highly encouraged. This symposium will delve into how such a term could reshape critical policies and legal practices across a range of areas, including:
- Immigration Law: Anticipated reforms, executive orders, and impacts on border security and asylum processes.
- Constitutional Law: Interpretative shifts, judicial appointments, and the influence on checks and balances.
- International Trade and Tariffs: Potential adjustments to trade agreements, relationships with key allies and adversaries, and the economic impact of continued or expanded tariffs.
- Industrial Policy: Strategies for bolstering domestic manufacturing, technology innovation, and government intervention in industries.
- Foreign Policy and International Law: The projected direction of international alliances, treaty commitments, and legal disputes on the global stage.
