West Virginia University College of Law invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty Librarian and Law Library Director. This position is a twelve-month appointment and responsible for overall leadership of the Law Library including supervision of full-time librarians and classified staff. The nature of the appointment, rank, and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experiences.
The Director's major areas of responsibility are (1) internal and external communications with law library constituents; (2) strategic planning; (3) leadership and oversight of the staff; (4) development of the collection and information resources (5) oversight of library services to faculty, students and the public; (6) assistance to and cooperation with other College units, such as student services, development, career services, alumni relations and the West Virginia Law Review; (7) develops and administers a legal research curriculum of both introductory and advanced courses; (8) and personal research and scholarly writing.
Candidates should have an excellent academic record and must hold a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school or an equivalent degree (such as a Ph.D.) in a related field as well as a Masters of Library Science (M.L.S., M.S.L.S.) or Masters in Information Science (M.L.I.S.) or equivalent. Candidates should have a passion for teaching, a record of or potential for scholarly distinction, and a commitment to service in the law school and community.
