The clinic will be a new offering in our robust clinical program, and, although focused on transactional lawyering, the specific area of practice and clinic design is yet to be determined. This position is a twelve-month faculty appointment on the Law Center’s Professional Practice faculty track (long-term contract compliant with 405(c)).

The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center seeks to hire a faculty member to teach and serve as director for our Veterans Legal Clinic. This position is a twelve-month faculty appointment on the Law Center’s Professional Practice faculty track (long-term contract compliant with 405(c)). The Veterans Legal Clinic is part of our robust clinical program and helps meet the needs of the large veteran population in Louisiana by providing direct legal services and community education. The Clinic has potential to expand and develop a partnership with the VA Hospital in Baton Rouge.

The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center seeks to hire a non-tenure-track Associate Professor of Professional Practice or Professor of Professional Practice to serve as its Director of Academic Success, developing and implementing a comprehensive Academic Success Program to assist students in the transition to law school and to promote their successful completion of the J.D. program and bar passage. The comprehensive program will emphasize success in bar passage as well as in first-year courses, both of which require the development of strong critical reading, analysis, and legal-writing skills.
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school (or international equivalent).
Minimum of two years experience in law practice and/or law teaching with a focus on critical reading, analysis, and legal-writing skills. Some experience related to program support, management, and/or coordination is required. Admitted to practice law in at least one state.

The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center seeks to The Director of Field Placements and Pro Bono Programs oversees student placements in the Law Center’s robust Field Placement program and serves as the faculty advisor for the Law Center’s Public Interest Law Society (PILS). The Director coordinates with the Assistant Dean for Experiential Education to chart the strategic direction of the Field Placement and Pro Bono Programs. This position is a twelve-month faculty appointment on the Law Center’s Professional Practice faculty track.
The Director will administer the Law Center’s Field Placement Program, including teaching and evaluating students in the various field placement courses. The Director will also be charged with creating, maintaining, and updating field placement course materials and host supervisor instruction materials, including online asynchronous course materials. The Director will also be responsible for recruiting, developing, and maintaining relationships with field placement hosts and site supervisors. The Director will also serve as faculty advisor and primary liaison to the Public Interest Law Society (PILS). As advisor, the Director will provide guidance and advice to student PILS leadership to ensure the sustainability and success of organization as well as create and maintain a network of pro bono opportunities for interested law students and track student participation and hours worked in pro bono programs and opportunities.
Applicants must have a Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from an accredited institution, and a license to practice law in any jurisdiction, and at least 5 years of experience. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong academic and/or career counseling background.

The LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center invites applications for the position of Associate Dean and Director for the Library and Information Technology Services. The Associate Dean and Director reports directly to the Dean of the LSU Law Center and maintains responsibility for all aspects of library and information technology management and operations. The Associate Dean and Director ensures the Law Library’s collection and resources, along with the Law Center’s IT services resources, are sufficient to meet the primary goals of supporting the teaching, learning, research, and service needs of the Law Center community, and also ensures, in areas relevant to the position, that the Law Center is in compliance with accreditation standards and membership requirements of the ABA and AALS. The Associate Dean and Director is expected to be eligible for the tenure-track or for tenure in the Law Library.
The Associate Dean and Director leads the Information Technology Services department as well as the Law Library—which also houses the Law Center’s educational technology group. The Law Library leads, coordinates, and instructs the array of advanced legal research courses at the Law Center, which are delivered through both traditional and hybrid methods. The collection consists of over 1.1 million volumes and volume equivalents (including over 400,000 in print), with a particularly impressive collection in foreign and comparative law. The Law Library annual budget (including information and educational technology departments), inclusive of personnel expenses, is approximately $2.15 million. The Law Library and IT departments currently employ 8 librarians, 2 professional staff in educational technology, and 4 professional staff in information technology.
While the Law Library’s primary mission is to serve the current Law Center community (students, faculty, and staff), the Law Library’s facilities, collection, and services are available to and serve diverse clientele including other LSU students, faculty, and staff, members of the bar, and members of the general public seeking access to legal materials. The Law Library is a member of the Federal Depository Library Program, regularly receiving select resources from the GPO and assisting the public with free, public access to federal materials and resource specialists. The Law Library also receives select resources through the Louisiana Public Document Depository Program. The Law Library is distinct from the main library on the LSU A&M campus, but it collaborates and cooperates with the main library on various projects. As a member of LOUIS, a consortium of public and private college and university libraries in the State of Louisiana, the Law Library benefits from cost-effective procurement of library technology and resources.
