Richard B. Bernstein has passed away. It was my pleasure working with Bernstein. He was a most important and most humble person. Joanne Freeman and Annette Gordon-Reed have excellent biographies today.
Over at legal history blog R.B. Bernstein has funeral service this Friday at 12-1 p.m.
At Williamjames Hoffer is posting R.B. Bernstein's obit notice H-Law.
Got to know Richard well my one year at NYU as part of the Legal History Colloquium. He was a bit rough around the edges...but was incredibly open to provide guidance and feedback. Sad to hear about his passing.

So, basically, you trash the man post mortem ("rough around the edges" : who says that anymore?) but praise him because somehow YOU benefitted from his guidance and feedback.
Typical. You should apologize to his memory.
If you can't say something positive, don't say anything at all.
