From an email message that I recently received:
Boston University School of Law is seeking a candidate to serve as Professor of Law and Associate Dean for Equity & Inclusion. This position is a full-time, tenured, faculty position. In addition to teaching a reduced teaching load, the Associate Dean will oversee, coordinate, and expand all the programs and initiatives related to equity and inclusion at the School of Law. We expect that specific initiatives will evolve in response to the strategic goals that the successful candidate develops in consultation with the Dean and other senior leaders. At present, we anticipate that the Associate Dean will (1) propose new faculty recruitment & retention initiatives and new student admission strategies designed to enhance representation of faculty and students from historically under-represented groups; (2) develop and/or organize inclusive pedagogy and classroom climate training programs for faculty and students; (3) chair the “Classroom Climate Committee” and oversee surveys and other tools for obtaining feedback about equity and inclusion for students; (4) develop intellectual life initiatives designed to foster open, vibrant and pluralistic debate about legal issues related to equity and inclusion among faculty and students; (5) collaborate with the Office of Student Affairs on programming related to student well-being; (6) oversee and expand the Law School’s Academic Enrichment Program as related to equity and inclusion; (7) coordinate ABA Standard 303 implementation; (8) oversee the Law School’s ASPIRE (Antiracist Scholars for Progress, Innovation, and Racial Equity) Program which is a collaboration between the School of Law and the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research.
Candidates must satisfy the tenure requirements for Boston University School of Law and should have a distinguished record of scholarly achievement, effective teaching, active service, and a record of inclusion. Applicants should send a letter of interest and C.V./resume to [email protected]. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. All open faculty positions are pending budgetary approval.
