"My Girl" was written by Smokey Robinson and Miracles member Ronald White, inspired by Robinson's wife Claudette Rogers Robinson, who was also in the Miracles. It was the Temptations' first number one hit, in 1964, and also the first release with David Ruffin singing lead.
