Entry-Level and Junior Lateral Tenure-Track Positions
Willamette University College of Law invites applications for three full-time, tenure-track faculty positions beginning in the fall of 2023. The College of Law is located in Salem, Oregon, steps away from the Oregon State Capitol and a short distance from the Portland metro area, the mountains, and the coast. We welcome applications from candidates in all subject areas, and we especially welcome candidates interested in teaching courses in Evidence, Criminal Law & Procedure, Business Law, Commercial Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Professional Responsibility, Lawyering, and Environmental Law.
Applicants must possess strong professional credentials and a proven ability to produce thoughtful scholarship, as well as the skills necessary to communicate their expertise to colleagues and their students. Additionally, the College of Law has been a leader in the national movement in conversations around alternatives to the traditional bar exam. This January, the Oregon Supreme Court approved in concept two new attorney licensure pathways, including a curriculum-based experiential pathway. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a demonstrated interest in experiential education or an interest in developing simulation-based courses.
Willamette University is committed to the academic excellence and rich and rewarding communities that a diverse faculty, staff, and student body brings. We welcome candidates whose work furthers equity and diversity and who bring to campus a commitment to sharing varied experiences, perspectives and backgrounds. Applicants demonstrating these qualifications are particularly encouraged to apply.
Please submit your materials electronically to the attention of Professor Andrew Gilden, Chair, Appointments Committee, at the Willamette University Jobs website. You may also contact Professor Gilden with questions at [email protected]. Please include a CV, letter of interest, and a list of at least three references. Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
