Turing Test

Fuck the Taliban, and fuck Joe Biden for letting them win.

anon

C’mon man!

Biden had to leave by August 31 because Trump agreed to leave by May. Biden's only choice was to leave back in May, or escalate back to the highest levels of troops. He had no choices.

So, Biden made the decision. He takes full credit for deciding for himself to leave completely, because it was the right thing to do to end the war (and, polls show the American people wanted to withdraw). The US accomplished its goals there ten years ago, and staying was futile. Leaving was the right thing to do. So, Biden decided to leave.

Biden planned for every contingency. But, no one could have anticipated that the indigenous army would crumble so fast. NOT ONE PERSON told him that was even possible.

Fortunately, Biden promised to stay until every American who wanted to leave could leave. That’s the reason he said today he only left 10% of such persons behind. Of course, the Taliban, in receipt of their personally identifying information, will get those left behind out. (Let me call you out on calling them "stranded" because the spokesman for the DOD did not, until today, use the word "stranded" to describe them. Words MATTER, man.)

As Biden is fond of quoting (without attribution) a lawyer's closing argument in a movie, “Close your eyes, man. Can you see it? Now, imagine ths was Trump.”

We are not at war with Oceania. Not today. The Taliban are owed praise: by our DOD and senior military personnel. They are restoring order.

Who would not support a group that censors all other voices? And, destroys the icons of those who do not completely submit to their authority? And, imposes authority to take away freedom based on certainty that they will make "the world a better place"?

Of course, this government should recognize them immediately! Right, Faculty Lounge?

Anon, did someone hack your account> You sound like a liberal--this has to be another person. Guess I am the conservative here???

If you disagree with my comment, Ediberto, I would say that Twitter needs to know.

After all, the Taliban is welcomed on Twitter, but someone who wouldn't agree with my comment above would not be and should not be heard, right?

The Taliban are our new ally. Especially by ordering others to cover their faces, they have shown good faith! Enlightened!

The Biden Administration, it appears, is readying the pallets of cash. We have armed the Taliban, and the Biden administration is dangling diplomatic recognition. Biden today openly condemned the former government there as corrupt. The Taliban represent everything we sought to support for the past twenty years. They were, always, our allies.

Biden is a marvelous success, in every way. He is a truth teller, and a veritable genius when it comes to domestic and foreign policy.

BTW, https [://] www [dot] reuters[dot]/world/excerpts-call-between-joe-biden-ashraf-ghani-july-23-2021-08-31/

No one told Biden what was happening months ago. No one warned him about the effect of withdrawing air support.
But, most importantly, read what Joe said about perceptions and the truth.

Brilliant!

Indeed, that is my concern with Biden's actions--he was warned by top military brass, and acted in this fashion anyway. In addition to terrible optics, he put lives in danger, and Americans and allies remain in danger. An awful foreign policy stance--RNC will make this a theme in 2024--but you will have more of a say on the matter than I will. He handled it poorly. In terms of Twitter, I am not not all that active on it these days--not certain what you meant by your comments above? Were you asking me to incite the Taliban? I hope not.

THe point about Twitter was this:

Twitter, quite rightly of course, can and should silence and censor anyone who speaks against any power play by the left. Needless to day, Twitter rightly has censored the evil Trump, his supporters, those who question Fauci, etc. It is not good in a society to have free speech, because free speech is dangerous. Twitter, which looks to and relies on the government ministers of truth for guidance in its censorship decisions, is simply fulfilling the needs of the market, like the telephone companies, which, as we all know, monitor and exclude people who speak in ways that are not approved by the government. They are private companies, after all.

In this stance, Twitter rightly mirrors the values of the Taliban, a group it welcomes on its website. See, e.g., the video of the Taliban standing over a news reader, on air, with weapons drawn.

Ediberto, I am not asking you to do anything.

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” George Santayana.

Apparently we learned nothing from the Vietnam War. In 1972 the South Vietnamese Army repelled the North Vietnamese Easter offensive. At that time the South Vietnamese units were stiffened with American advisors who coordinated air and artillery attacks delivered by American forces still in country.

In 1975 we had withdrawn almost all of our troops. The North Vietnamese first attacked the Central Highlands and without American air support the retreat of South Vietnamese forces turned into a rout that spread throughout the South Vietnamese army resulting in the takeover of South Vietnam by the Communists.

Sound familiar? The Afghan Nation army units lacked American advisors and in country American air assets. The result? A rout.

It's too early to tell whether the Afghan fiasco resulted from bad decisions by the American military or Trump & Biden's haste to rid our hands of the war.

Rick

Of course, the military would have stayed forever if they had the chance.

It wasn't Trump that conducted the bug out.

Nor did Trump bind Biden to anything. Trump's "deal" had conditions precedent that weren't met. Biden didn't abide by that agreement anyway, and, Biden stated that he decided, independently and for his own reasons, to bug out.

Biden have it both ways: he can't take credit for the "right decision" to abandon a futile effort that should have ended at least ten years ago, and then blame Trump for making him make that decision.

What is most telling is that the N. Vietnamese were not vowing to wreak harm on the US. They just wanted us out.

The leftists who can admit no wrong won't admit wrong now. But, they are so found of claiming that this or that thing is "historic."

How full of it can these folks be? Can they not see the importance of what has just happened?
