Concordia Law School in Boise is closing its doors. After its parent institution, Concordia University of Portland, Oregon announced closure, it appeared Concordia of St. Paul, Minnesota would take on the law school. But HotChalk, an online management company, is apparently suing the Portland school over unpaid debt - with claims that the law school's shift was a fraudulent transfer. Now students, faculty, and staff are scrambling to land on their feet. This is dramatic change for a community that celebrated receiving full ABA accreditation just last year. Perhaps there is also a cautionary story here about the contracts universities are signing with online program management companies. Based on prior allegations of mischief, there may be other cautionary stories here as well.
