"I Can't Stop Loving You" was written in 1957 by Don Gibson, whose 1958 release became a hit on the Country & Western charts. Ray Charles covered the song in 1962 for his album Modern Sounds in Country & Western Music, also releasing it as a single that held the number one spot for five weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has since been covered over 700 times.
Perhaps my favorite Ray Charles “doin’ country” is his version of Buck Owens’ “Crying Time” (1964): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJcwqyhUtH0&list=RDVJcwqyhUtH0&start_radio=1&t=0
