For all the pissing and moaning about anonymous comments, it is no wonder that credit goes only to the posts.

In any event, the fact that anonymous comments predominate, and the fact that it seems most readers are reading them (even the buffoonery) didn't seem to hamper the high rating for this blog.

How about this? Impose a "named commenter" policy for a year. Then, see how the rating do. If the ratings improve, all those who have come into this Lounge to call anonymous commenters "cowards," and worse, will be proved correct.

If not, then it seems the level of opprobrium leveled at anonymous commenters might have been, dare we say it?, an inappropriate expression of anger which, by the rules of anonymity, perhaps wouldn't have been otherwise delivered had the author of the original comment been identified. (In other words, it is quite easy to call anonymous persons names; perhaps easier than actually thinking about what others have written here and taking issue with group think and political bias.)

One of the finest acts that President George W. Bush did was de-certify the ABA's influence on Judicial nominees. Who does the ABA represent? Why are they any more influential than say the American Truckers Association or National Restaurant Association? You pay your dues, become a member and get a magazine. Maybe you'll get a free Westlaw stress ball at the annual convention. Otherwise the ABA represents failure to control or regulate unranked law schools creating a huge glut in the legal profession. The profession for many of us who did not attend the Top Tier law schools, is no longer a reliable path to a middle class income. The ABA is dreck.
