Long-time Chicagoans will recall that WFMT's The Midnight Special used to end every Saturday night with Richard Dyer-Bennet's rendition of "Lonesome Valley." The show began in 1953, originally with live performances hosted by Mike Nichols. It is still on the air, running from 9:00 pm until midnight on Saturdays. "Lonesome Valley" still closes the show once in awhile, most recently (I think) in 2015.
Indeed, since 1-20-17, 12:01 pm, edt. The valley deepened on 10-06-18.
