Born this day in 1930, Milk was the first openly gay elected official in the United States. He was assassinated on November 27, 1978. You can read more about the visionary civil rights and political leader here.

I heard a rumor that the current White House occupant went down to the basement and fond the Obama era plastic tub containing the multi-colored lights and ordered staff to light up the White House in commemoration/celebration.......
