New York Law School invites applications for full-time visiting faculty to teach in its Legal Practice program. Legal Practice is a foundational two semester course that all day and evening division students take in their first year. Through client-centered simulations and assignments, the course introduces students to fundamental lawyering skills in context, including critical reading, legal analysis, predictive and persuasive writing, legal research, client interviewing, counseling, negotiation and oral advocacy.
The position is a visitor appointment that begins on July 1, 2017, and ends on June 30, 2018, with a possibility of a one year renewal. The Law School anticipates hiring up to three visitors for the 2017-18 academic year, each of whom will teach two small sections (a total of approximately 40 students) in both the fall and spring semesters. Visiting Assistant Professors will work collaboratively with the program director and faculty to design classes and prepare simulations, writing assignments and other course materials.
Applicants must have a JD degree, bar admission, at least two years practice experience, and a demonstrated commitment to and affinity for teaching.
