Captain Hruska Carswell, Continuance King

My dad had it right in 1972 when I asked him why Mercedes Benz automobiles had shoulder belts in its back seats when our Chevrolet did not. He bellowed, "Just like the God Damned war, the rich always pay the poor to die for them." What was true for Viet Nam is true for today.... No, I am sorry, actually worse given our exploitive so called President.

Kim Krawiec

Cap -- from the Elliott article: "And, because so many guinea pigs are uninsured, they are testing the safety of drugs that they will probably not be able to afford once the drugs have been approved. “I’m not going to get the benefit of the health care that is developed by this research,” Helms says, “because I am not in the economic class to get health insurance.”

To be clear, Elliott does not consider this a reason to worry about the commodification of medical subjects. Instead, it is an argument for recognizing their work as the labor it is and providing for them accordingly (and possibly for a better public health care system, though that's not the point of the article)
