From an email message which I have received:
With the upcoming retirement of Professor Owen L. Anderson, The University of Oklahoma (“OU”) College of Law announces applications and nominations are being accepted for a full time faculty position in oil and gas, natural resources, and energy law.
The College of Law seeks a legal scholar with a reputation for research excellence and superior teaching skills in one or more of the fields of oil and gas, natural resources, and energy law. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate or full Professor either with tenure or tenure track status, depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications. A minimum of one year J.D. level teaching (as a visitor or regular faculty) is preferred.
Candidates must have a Juris Doctor degree, a record of excellent legal research, and strong teaching skills. The person selected must have the ability and interest to help attract and develop exceptional leaders in the legal profession and in legal education. In addition, the successful applicant must possess demonstrated ability and experience to work effectively with business and professional leaders in Oklahoma, the nation, and throughout the world, beyond the academic realm, and will be expected to make a high-level professional contribution. It is important that the candidate possess the interest and ability to work with other OU colleges that also provide world class oil and gas, natural resources, and energy exposure.
The University of Oklahoma is one of the leading international institutions for pursuing excellence in the oil and gas, natural resources, and energy fields. At the College of Law, these fields are one of our two primary strategic areas—with faculty expertise and class offerings that are second to none. In addition to a J.D. degree, we offer an LL.M. as well as a M.L.S. in these areas of study. We have just launched the Oil and Gas, Natural Resources, and Energy Journal (ONE J), a student-run, peer-reviewed, online journal, which publishes both scholarly and practice-oriented articles in the oil and gas, natural resources, and energy law and business areas. Our annual Eugene Kuntz Conference on Natural Resources Law and Policy, begun in the early 1990s, has exceeded 500 attendees in the last two years, making it one of the largest oil and gas conferences in the country.
The appointment will begin in August 2016; so review of applications will begin immediately. Please submit your application at your earliest convenience. Applications should include a letter of interest, a resume, and the names, addresses, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses of not more than five references. Nominations are also solicited. Application materials should be submitted to:
