New Penn State President Eric Barron - formerly of Florida State - spoke about the state of legal eduation and his hopes for Penn State Law. He conceded the big decline in applicants to law school but noted his view at his prior university that "even though it costs something...we were gonna protect the quality at the law school."
He believes the market for legal education will turn around. "Am I a perfect predictor? No. I'm quite human. But I think it's worth the bet." Which, if you read between the lines, suggests that he plans on keeping the Carlisle campus open, at least for a while.
