The Case Western Reserve Law Review is issuing a call for proposals in connection with the Law Review symposium to be convened at the CWRU School of Law on Friday, November 14, 2014.
The symposium is entitled "Executive Discretion and the Administrative State" and will address the legal implications of past and present use of presidential power in the domestic realm. The symposium features, amongst an interdisciplinary group of scholars, Peter L. Strauss, Betts Professor of Law at Columbia School of Law; Peter M. Shane, Jacob E. Davis and Jacob E. Davis II Chair in Law at The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law; and Victoria Nourse, Professor of Law at Georgetown University. Applicants are encouraged to concentrate on any of the myriad domestic policy areas influenced by the use of executive discretion such as healthcare, immigration, the environment, or national security. Additionally the submissions can include analyses that are practical, theoretical, or interdisciplinary in nature.
Proposals should be one to two pages in length (12-pt. font, Times New Roman, one-inch margins) and should be directed to the Law Review Symposium Editor, Tyler Quanbeck ([email protected]). Proposals will be accepted until Monday, July 7, 2014, at 11:59 p.m. ET. The Law Review will make decisions regarding paper acceptance in early August. If accepted, authors will be expected to submit a completed draft by late December to be published in the symposium issue of the Case Western Reserve Law Review. Additionally, Case Western Reserve University will provide accepted authors with reasonable travel accommodations.
Please direct any questions to Symposium Editor Tyler Quanbeck ([email protected]), Editor in Chief Kirk Shaw ([email protected]), or Faculty Advisor Prof. Jessie Hill ([email protected]).
