I am delighted to report that the University of New Hampshire Law School has hired two accomplished young scholars who each have a deep science background: W. Nicholson Price and Roger Ford. Nicholson is presently a Fellow at Harvard Law School's Petrie-Flom Center, while Roger is a Bigelow Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School. Each will join the UNH Law faculty beginning in the 2014-15 academic year. Nicholson's bio is here; Roger's bio is here. With Nicholson and Roger joining the law school’s other recent IP hires, UNH now has one of the strongest groups of young IP scholars in American legal education.
Quite the catch for UNH. Given the scarcity of slots, I suspect this sort of "value investing" will be become the new normal over the next decade. Schools will generally stay out of the hiring market, but make big moves with large expected returns when they enter. Compare UCLA and Chicago's hires last year.
