In honor of Black History Month I thought I'd post a picture of the Cater G. Woodson School, named after the founder of (what was then known as) Negro History Month. Actually, I think it began as a week and later was expanded into a month. The school is located near Petersburg, Virginia (on the road from Chapel Hill to Williamsburg). I love the art deco lettering on the school.
One of the things that I've immensely pleased by is how much we now recognize African American history lies at the center of American history -- and how much issues of race lie at the center of American legal history, too.
Great picture. Thanks for posting it.
