The Iowa Bar Association is floating a proposal to extend in-state diploma privilege to graduates of its two law schools: the University of Iowa and Drake. This would be a nice bump for the two schools, giving them a small but tangible competitive advantage in recuiting Iowans. The governor opposes the move, but the state Supreme Court will have the final say.
Wisconsin is currently the only state with this option. If this flies in Iowa, though, I wonder whether other states with a small number of law schools will consider this option as a way to bolster in-state recruiting. Not that I think that the brutal competition for law applicants has anything to do with this...
The legal profession is so pervaded by corruption, favoritism, illicit discrimination, fawning praise of peers and judges that a person would either have to be ignorant of it or give up the greater part of his humanity to participate in it.
