Following up on Dan's post on historical data on first year enrollment, a reader send along this link to the ABA's website, which has "First Year and Total J.D. Enrollment by Gender, 1947 - 2011." I think this helps put into more context the discussion Dan, PaulB, Mack and others have been having in the comments to Dan's post about the causes of the increase in enrollment in law school. At some point I'd like to consider this in relation to the civil rights movement, too -- and maybe in relation to Jerold Auerbach's Unequal Justice: Lawyers and Social Change in Modern America.
