
A couple of UVA alumni commented on my post about
Jim Hall's article on the University of Alabama's destruction during the war about how much Alabama's pre-war campus looked like UVA's campus. (After the war, Alabama modeled one of its dormitories on Virginia Military Institute -- which is a story for another time, but I always love to talk
about VMI). That led my colleague Bill Turnier to point me to
wikipedia's discussion of the University of Virginia's influence on campus architture, particularly on southern schools.
