Valparaiso University School of Law Dean Jay Conison is moving to Charlotte School of Law where he will serve as its new dean. He will be leaving Valparaiso on April 15, which is remarkably abrupt turn for a man who has served as Valpo's dean since 1998. Charlotte is a for-profit law school, which will presumably be a somewhat different experience for Conison.
Conison holds his JD from the University of Minnesota. He has been very active in ABA law school accreditation circles, serving on the Accreditation Committee of the group's Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar for six years, including a year as its co-chair.
Great news for CLT. Curious about why he would leave Valpo, but do think CLT would be open to making radical changes needed in legal education. Many other schools are too tied to the past.
