Professor Mark West, a scholar of the Japanese legal system, has been named the new dean of the University of Michigan Law School beginning next fall. West, who holds his JD from Columbia Law School, joined the Michigan faculty in 1998. He currently serves as an associate dean. This insures a smooth administrative transition at Michigan, where Dean Evan Caminker will step down at the end of August.
