One of my brilliant colleagues (who wishes to remain nameless for the time being) noticed the strangest thing while virtually leafing through public university salary information at collegiatetimes.com. A portion of the information currently available here includes the following:

Which raises a number of questions for this intrepid student of the empirical:
(1) What exactly do these fine people have on Dean Caminker?
(2) How can I get me some?
(3) Did Ann Arbor somehow become Austin, Texas while I slept, and if I have to wake up now, can I please wake up in one or the other?
(4) What is an "Intermittent Lecturer," and what kinds of sacrifices are necessary to become one? I'm prepared to bleep out every other word if necessary. I mean it: name your terms.
In all seriousness (no, on second thought, I'm just not ready for all seriousness), my nephew is a graduate student in Math at UMich, and he is really, really good at that stuff. My best guess is that he had nothing whatsoever to do with the calculation or reporting of these figures. But who in heaven's name did?

I assume that most if not all of these are FTE equivalent salaries for people who are teaching part-time. (The presence of Judge Kethledge on the list is a giveaway, I think.)

I was about to say the same thing, but Prof. Tushnet beat me to it.
