The University of Massachusetts School of Law - Dartmouth (formerly the Southern New England School of Law) has been recommended for provisional accreditation by the American Bar Association Committee on Accreditation. The ABA's Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar will vote on whether to accept this recommendation at its June 8, 2012 meeting. This would be a far better outcome than SNESL enjoyed as a freestanding law school. It was twice denied provisional accreditation by the ABA. This is also good news for the newly appointed chancellor of UMass - Dartmouth, Divina Grossman.
