Anthony W. Crowell, Counselor to New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Brooklyn Public Library, has been named the Dean and President of New York Law School. He will join the faculty as Professor of Law and Distinguished Practitioner and officially take office later this spring. Crowell received his B.A. from Penn and his J.D. from American University. This is a very sensible hire from the point of view of both fundraising and institutional management. Given that his background is in the public and non-profit sectors, he may be seen as an anodyne pick from the point of view of the faculty.
As a member of the New York Law School faculty, I can say that Anthony Crowell is anything but anodyne. I hope you'll get the chance to meet him, and soon. "Inspirational" is the word that comes to mind. His enthusiasm, energy, and passion for the school made a big impression, and he's left a long trail of people who feel a deep personal loyalty.

He seems an excellent choice.

Any person can be promoted depends on how he handles his job and pass the requirements needed for the new position. I think one of the most important thing is his dedication in his work.
