At its meeting on December 3, 2011, the Council of the ABa Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar approved changes to Rule 3 of its Rules of Procedures for Approval of Law Schools (current). The changes will now go the ABA House of Delegates.
The changes add a new paragraph (c) regarding interim monitoring of law-school compliance with the ABA Standards in between the sabbatical inspections of law schools. The basic focus of interim monitoring is on
- "the resources available to the law school [Standard 201],
- efforts and effectiveness in facilitating student career placement [Standard 511],
- bar passage [Interpretation 301-6], and
- student admissions including student credentials, size of enrollment and academic attrition [Standard 501], " (bullets and emphasis added),
together with "[o]ther Standards and Interpretations ... as the [Accreditation] Committee deems appropriate."
