South Asia receives relatively little media attention in the United States, yet it is home to well over 1.6 billion people and one of the world's largest market economies.
The Section on Law and South Asian Studies is a newly formed (within the last 2 years) section of the AALS. It brings together legal academics who have worked in the area of, or have strong interests in, South Asian Studies. The section will meet next on January 6, 2012 at 4 pm at the 2012 AALS annual meeting and will focus on the topic "Is There a South Asian Jurisprudence?" Panelists include Amy Cohen, Vik Khanna, Jeff Redding and Sudha Setty. Please contact section founders Jay Krishnan or Shubha Ghosh with any questions or to become involved in the section.
