Rob Wilcox, currently the associate dean for academic affairs at the University of South Carolina School of Law, has been named the new dean. Wilcox, a USC (Gamecocks, that is) law grad has been on the faculty since 1986. He's been associate dean since 2006.
I've previously blogged about two politically connected individuals who'd been in the running for this deanship. (One of these two scored another position at the law school.) Given that no state school dean wants to be cross-wise with the poltical elite, Rob must be pleased about these comments from Senator Lindsay Graham:
“I was a classmate of Rob’s and have seen him develop into one of the most outstanding law professors in the country,” Graham said. “His selection as the new dean of the University of South Carolina School of Law is a very wise choice. Rob’s teaching abilities have been recognized numerous times by the student body and his faculty peers. No one is better positioned to lead the USC School of Law to the next level than Rob Wilcox. There are bright days ahead for the USC School of Law with Rob as its new dean.”
This is very exciting news for USC law school! Congratulations to Rob.
