I think one was because of the assassination attempt on President Reagan. That was a Monday, and I remember the Oscars used to be on Monday. That was also the night of the NCAA basketball championship between UNC and Indiana, which was not canceled.

Yes, the assassination attempt on President Reagan in 1981 led to the postponement of the Oscars by 1 day. It also led to the passage of Federal Rule of Evidence 704(b).

1968: a two-day postponement out of respect for the funeral of Dr. Martin Luther King.

Yes, 1968 was another postponement for the reason stated. That leaves one postponement.
