Name the first Best Picture nominee to be based on a television series.
Pictured: The Untouchables (1987), based (at least in part) on the 1959 television series. The movie brought Sean Connery the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, but the film itself was not nominated for Best Picture.
Possibly "Marty" (which was actually based on a television movie, so maybe this doesn't count), or "The Fugitive" (which I don't think won the prize).

THE FUGITIVE (1993) is correct. SCHINDLER'S LIST was the Best Picture winner that year.

I'd also guess The Fugitive. Wasn't Traffic based on a mini-series as well? Although obviously after The Fugitive.

Twelve Angry Men was based on a television play.
