Working off of my question from yesterday, one would be Phillip Seymour Hoffman in "Capote."

Jacqueline Lipton

Yes, most definitely. That's one down - Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Capote...

Bob Power

Sean Penn as Harvey Milk in Milk.

Joe

Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth.

(Just kidding. I think the "less obvious" one is Charlize Theron for that serial killer lady.)

Jake Linford

Tom Hanks, Philadelphia.

Jake Linford

Never mind, I missed the post 2000 part. Philadelphia is much older than that.

Ben Buchwalter

Difficult question! Not sure about this one... but what about Nicole Kidman as Virginia Woolf?

Jacqueline Lipton

Yep, that's all of them.
Tom Hanks doesn't count because Philadelphia was pre-2000.
The others were Charlize Theron (Monster), Nicole Kidman (The Hours), and Sean Penn (Milk). Colin Firth was also nominated for A Single Man but did not win.

DF

If we do away with the 2000 limit, William Hurt won best actor for playing a gay prisoner in Brazil in Kiss of the Spider Woman in 1985.
