Update (January 28): Professor Onwuachi-Willig has made the list of nine finalists (for three slots). Story here.
Iowa law prof Angela Onwuachi-Willig (pictured), together with five dozen other state citizens, have applied to fill the three vacancies on the Iowa Supreme Court. Story here.
As someone that has known and admired Angela for some time now, I could think of no better a person and legal scholar for such a position. She will make a fantastic jurist. My only regret is that the academy will lose a fabulous leader for a considerable amount of time. G_d Speed my friend!!!

I second everything Ediberto said. Good luck, Angela!

Am I right that it's up to the Governor to pick three Justices from this list? If so, the fact that the Governor is a pro-life social conservative Republican who was endorsed by Sarah Palin seems relevant to estimating the prospects of an appointment.
