Perhaps you have authored a casebook, study aid, or other law-related work. Congratulations! May your royalties propel you into a higher tax bracket.
Do you have a co-author?
If so, is your relationship governed solely by the publisher's contract? Or might you wish to address certain matters in a contract between you and your co-author? What might those matters be? Royalty splits? Addition of new co-authors? Joint commitment for future editions? Death (retirement, departure, etc.) of a co-author? Other matters?
This news story in The National Law Journal may merit your review, if you're in (or considering) a relationship with a co-author.
(Hat Tip: St. Thomas (FL) law prof Katharine Van Tassel.)
An unfortunate situation. Is it just me, or does Aspen look rather bad here, too?
