I don't know if this is good news or bad news, but the Daily Gamecock has begun a three day investigation of the University of South Carolina School of Law. The first installment is here. We know that the folks at USC are in the midst of a dean search. Apparently, the school's drop out of the US News top 100 schools is causing a great deal of soul searching - including formation of a university-wide Blue Ribbon Panel. But it seems to me that, if a student's goal is to practice in South Carolina, this is still the place to be...whatever Bob Morse at US News might have to say about matters. (And at this pricepoint, it might not be such a bad choice for other folks as well.)
It just makes life tougher for the fundraiser-in-chief.
To his credit, our Provost made the Blue Ribbon Panel Report publicly available on the law school's website. It can be accessed here: http://www.sc.edu/provost/forms/FinalReport_LawSchoolBlueRibbon.pdf
We need a new Dean, as noted in the post above, and welcome applications.
